The Lion King: The Gift, the album produced and curated by BeyoncĂ©, dropped at midnight on Friday (July 19) and Blue Ivy Carter is featured on one of its tracks, “Brown Skin Girl.”
Bey’s daughter, 7, starts out the track, singing, “Brown skin girl/ Your skin just like pearls/ The best thing in the world/ Never change it for anybody else,” alongside Saint Jhn over claps. WizKid make his entrance as the music kicks in, “She said she really grew up poor like me/ Don’t believe in nothing but the almighty.”
Blue’s Ma also takes part in the track, of course, singing, “Pretty like Lupita when the cameras close in/ Drip broke the levee when my Kellys roll in.”
The 14-track album includes features from several other stars too, such as Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Pharrell, and several African artists. Bey’s previously-released single, “Spirit,” is also included on the album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Kid Digital Song Sales chart (dated July 20).
