Despite the turmoils of 2020, Mariah Carey is spreading the holiday cheer with her upcoming Magical Christmas Special.
In a new trailer for the event released on Friday (Nov. 27), Tiffany Haddish cuddles up by the fireplace to tell viewers a story. “‘Twas the night before Christmas, and 2020 had been rough,” she began, “So Santa decided the season couldn’t be merry without the one and only Mariah Carey.”
The chanteuse then appears to announce, “This Christmas, we could all use a little a little magic!” The curtain behind her drops and scenes from the star-studded special begin to play to the soundtrack of Carey’s holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Billy Eichner, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland and Mykal-Michelle Harris will all appear during the event, along with a special appearance by Carey’s nine-year-old twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe.
Additionally, the single and new music video for “Oh Santa!,” featuring Carey’s fellow vocal powerhouses Grande and Hudson, will be distributed by Sony Music and released on streaming platforms on December 4. The companion soundtrack to the special will also be released on the same day.
