Taylor Swift unveiled a surprise for her Swifties on Monday (June 22) in the form of “Cornelia Street” from her recent City Of Lover concert in Paris.
“We were in the back seat/ Drunk on something stronger than the drinks in the bar/ ‘I rent a place on Cornelia Street’/ I say casually in the car/ We were a fresh page on the desk/ Filling in the blanks as we go/ As if the streetlights pointed in an arrowhead/ Leading us home,” the superstar sings as she gently strums her guitar and one particular fan lets out an ear-piercing scream of excitement.
Filmed at L’Olympia Bruno Coquatrix, the one-night-only event has been available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ since its May 17 premiere, but the new video marks the first chance fans have been able to see a bit of the show outside those two streaming platforms.
During the special, Swift also performed Lover singles “Me!,” “You Need to Calm Down,” “The Man” and the romantic title track, as well as fan-favorite highlights “Daylight,” “Death By a Thousand Cuts” and “The Archer.” (For Swift completists, audio versions of all eight live tracks were also released as standalone singles the day after the special aired in May.)
Unfortunately, City Of Lover may be the only Lover-era concert to get Swifties through the next year, as the superstar has postponed her planned Lover Fest until 2021 and cancelled all other appearances through the rest of the year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. (Though for fans starved for Swift content, there’s always her Reputation Stadium Tour concert film and Miss Americana documentary, both available on Netflix, as well.)
