Kelly Clarkson opened Monday’s episode (Oct. 14) of The Kelly Clarkson Show with a horn-blasted take on The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”
The talk show host turned the R&B crooner’s 2015 hit into a bonafide big band number, accompanied by a full horn section that included trumpet, trombone and baritone saxophone. Clarkson also put her vocal talent on full display during the performance, optioning up the pre-chorus’ climactic “woo!” into a whistling falsetto and playing around with the track’s straightforward melody.
The original American Idol winner’s eponymous talk show continues to flourish thanks to her gregarious interview style and daily viral “Kellyoke” numbers at the top of each show. Last week, she also reinvented the likes of Katy Perry’s “Roar,” One Direction’s “That’s What Makes You Beautiful” and Eve’s classic ‘90s jam featuring fellow The Voice judge Gwen Stefani, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.”
