Carly Rae Jepsen will do anything for her fans. That includes reading after midnight random thoughts in a Late Late Show segment called “Tweet Dreams,” in which she took a minute to ponder some of their twilight musings.
Some didn’t even make sense to the dreamers, like the one who wrote, “I dreamt that Carly Rae Jepsen and I had a joint birthday party and I woke up in the middle of it because my brain was like this is not possible she’s a SCORPIO.” That one weirded the singer out a bit, because why would anyone know her sign? That said, when she was an angsty teen, her mom would tell her that her “Scorpio tail was showing.”
Another fan had more serious thoughts in mind: “Last night I had a dream that it was 2020 and I was Carly Rae Jepsen’s campaign manager.” For what, she wondered? “Like life? Or like presidency? Or like work?” Other dreams were not so dreamy, like the fan who dreamt that CRJ’s publicist sent them an advance link to her new album, only to wake up and see nothing but an email notice that their checking account was overdrawn. “I mean that’s a bummer, that’s a high and then a low,” she sympathized, noting that the album is already out.
Among the other dreams: a fan who imagined their parents divorced because dad didn’t like the new CRJ single, (“those are grounds… so that’s fair. And I feel like I should meet your mom because we have similar tastes.”), another who flew to Hawaii to see CRJ but then couldn’t figure out how they got there and then remembered it was on a plane and one that really, really confused the singer.
“I dreamt @carlyraejepsen and I built a time machine and went back to the ’80s to sneak ourselves into our favorite movie?!????,” Jepsen read before asking, “who are these people? What is going on???” Her favorite ’80s movie is Pretty in Pink, FYI. Jepsen released her most recent album, Dedicated, in May.
