Walk the Moon took on Adele’s melancholic “Someone Like You” for The Tonight Show’s “Cover Room” segment on Monday night (March 4), putting their own twist on the track and its lyrics.

The quartet began their backstage performance with an a capella harmony of the first verse. Vocalist Nicholas Petricca then took over the next verse, making the lyrics reflect the Cincinnati band more closely. “I heard that you’re settled down/ That you found a band and you’re touring now/ I heard that your dreams came true/ I guess they gave you things we couldn’t give to you,” Petricca sang.

The band brought their signature energy to the chorus, giving the ballad a pop-folk spin.
