Twenty One Pilots took a break from their busy tour schedule to visit with teens at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. ahead of a show at the Enterprise Center on Friday (Oct. 19), via Inside Edition.
The rock duo’s first hospital visit came about after the musical therapist helped the location put together a video, inviting singer Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun. In it, staff and patients sing Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which Twenty One Pilots famously covered.
The band accepted the invitation, and 29-year-old Joseph played “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV” off 2015’s Blurryface for the patients using a ukulele. He got the crowd to join in with a few “yeahs,” and after the performance, both guys signed autographs, took pictures and talked with patients.
“Music’s gotten me through hard time,” said 30-year-old Dun, “and coming and seeing what some of these kids, you know, battle every day — and using music — you know, makes me feel emotional.”
