Travis Kelce has remained in a joyful mood since proposing to Taylor Swift.
During the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, released Wednesday (Sept. 3), the Kansas City Chiefs player talked about the early days following his proposal to the 14-time Grammy winner. When asked what makes a great proposal, beyond choosing an impressive diamond ring like the one he gave Swift, he said: “You’ve gotta know your gal.”
He went on: “You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way. I would just say, know your partner, know who you’re doing it for, and do it for the right reasons. Everything else will be beautiful.”
Jason Kelce mentioned that Travis will soon begin planning the wedding with his famous fiancée. To this, Travis responded with a grin, “That is the next step, yeah.”
Eight days before the episode aired, the couple announced their engagement by posting photos on Instagram of Travis proposing in a rose-filled garden. They captioned the post: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Since the announcement, social media has been filled with congratulatory messages. The couple made their first public appearance after the news at a Cincinnati Bearcats game in Kansas City, where Travis introduced Taylor as his fiancée — something he said on New Heights still makes him feel “giddy.”
“It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with,” the three-time Super Bowl champion said, sharing how much he’s enjoyed seeing the reactions online.
Alongside planning their wedding, both are preparing for major moments in their careers. Travis is about to enter his 13th NFL season with the Chiefs, while Taylor will release her new album The Life of a Showgirl — the follow-up to The Tortured Poets Department, which spent 17 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 — on Oct. 3.
