Meghan Trainor got into the holiday spirit early this season by unveiling two new Christmas songs on Wednesday (Oct. 7).

Co-written with her two brothers Ryan and Justin Trainor, original song “My Kind of Present” finds the pop star swooning over a new Christmastime love with her trademark retro vocal stylings.

“Baby I want you/ You’re my kind of present/ You’re my kind of present/ You’re my angel from heaven/ So go and tell Santa, don’t bring me nothin'” she insists on the track’s doo-wop vocal stylings.

Balancing out the Christmas cheer, Trainor follows her original song with a faithful cover of “Last Christmas,” Wham!’s 1986 classic tale of holiday heartbreak. “Last Christmas, I gave you my heart/ But the very next day you gave it away/ This year, to save me from tears/ I’ll give it to someone special,” she croons on the iconic chorus over churning ’80s synths and handclaps.

Both tracks are set to appear on the singer’s forthcoming first holiday album, A Very Trainor Christmas, which is set to arrive Oct. 30 via Epic Records. The Christmas LP will serve as Trainor’s second studio set of 2020, following the long-awaited Treat Myself, which dropped in January after nearly a year and a half of shifting release dates and delays. (A deluxe edition of the album arrived in July, accompanied by new single “Make You Dance.”)
