David Vogel clearly digs the big stage.

The 23-year-old singer and guitarist made his mark on Tuesday night’s (Sept. 28) episode of NBC’s The Voice, when he performed one of Ariana Grande’s very own songs for his blind audition. Risky, yes. Not a problem.

Hailing from Valhalla, New York, Vogel — which translates to “bird” from the German language — took flight with a country rock-edged version of Ariana’s “breathin.”

Grande battled with her buzzer throughout. Would she press it? In the end, yes.

“That was so beautiful,” she told the contestant. “I thought it was a really unique take. I love that you play an instrument too.”

The other judges loved the re-arrangement, but only Grande turned.

“I love your tone, I love your style,” Ari enthused. “I’m selfishly very happy that I waited ‘til the last second because now you are mine and mine only. I’m very happy about this. I’m so excited to hopefully go all the way to the end.”
