“Stay and play that Blink-182 song/ That we beat to death in Tucson” becomes a reality.
The Chainsmokers have become the kind of stars that will define a generation of music tastes. Songs like “Closer” and “Paris” are just too big to ever be truly forgotten, and there are kids who will one day revisit those hits with a warm nostalgia that’ll last throughout the decades. The same is true for pop-punk idols Blink-182. Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is a sonic bible for many millennials — The Chainsmokers included. The dance-pop duo even name-drops the trio in the lyrics of “Closer” (“Stay and play that Blink-182 song/ That we beat to death in Tucson”).
Of course, no one is more excited about the fact that The Chainsmokers and Blink-182 just wrote a song together than Alex Pall and Drew Taggart themselves.
“Just did a session with blink182 and wrote an amazing song,” the duo tweeted. “We can die happy now.”
For their part, Blink-182 retweeted the comment with an emoji of two beer steins cheersing. We’ll have to wait to hear the fruits of this labor, but seeing that The Chainsmokers have recently experimented with more rockin’ guitar-laden tunes, we expect something emotional, high-energy and probably perfect for radio.
Check The Chainsmokers’ tweet below, and look out for the impending tunage (hopefully) soon to come.
