The 1975 released a new single on Thursday, (July 19) the strident “Love It If We Made It,” loaded with social and political commentary. Singer Matty Healy addressed the song’s hard-charging outlook in an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, saying “Its not opinionated. It provides what is happening.”
The pulsing single is full of pop culture references that quote President Trump and Kanye West, address the late emo rapper Lil Peep, and conclude that, “Modernity has failed us/ and I’d love it if we made it.”
“Love It If We Made It” follows the first single “Give Yourself A Try,” from the band’s upcoming third album, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, due out in October.
