It’s beginning to look a lot like a Taylor Swift Christmas.
The pop superstar gave Swifties a lot to be thankful for last Friday (Dec. 11) when she dropped Evermore, her second album crafted and released in isolation. Like its predecessor Folklore, Evermore is certain to set charts ringing over the holidays.
Evermore was an early birthday present for herself, and an early Christmas gift for everyone else.
On Monday night (Dec. 14), Swift dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live for a chat about the album, her concert special on Disney Plus, and much more.
At the top of the interview, TayTay crunched the numbers. She’s really 31 going on 13, her lucky number.
“Until I turn 113 or 131, this will be the highlight of my life,” she deadpanned.
“The numerology thing, when it doesn’t take over on its own, I sort of force it to happen.” Take her two most albums. “There are 16 tracks on Folklore, there are 15 tracks on Evermore. Add ‘em up,” she said. “What do you get?”
That’s right… 31. “In my mind, it’s just the opposite. It’s just 13 backwards.”
TayTay also tackled the fan theory about the Woodvale stamp on her album artwork. Yes, Taylor loves dropping in cryptic messages, Easter eggs. And sometimes she takes them too far. Woodvale, we learn, was an early codename for Folklore. A random word, with the same number of letters. She admitted, “I didn’t tell anybody the album title until right before it came out.”
But according to Swift, she simply didn’t catch the error on the cover art before it was pressed up. That Woodvale impression is, apparently, a blunder.
Swift also opened up about the socially-distanced recording process, her co-writes with her boyfriend and she heaped praise on collaborator Aaron Dessner of The National.
“He’s so talented, he’s so prolific. But he’s also such a wonderful, kind, generous creative person and he has a lot of people who want to collaborate with him. So I sort of grifted off of that,” she quipped.
