Taylor Swift dropped the meditative lyric videos for “Right Where You Left Me” and “It’s Time to Go” on Wednesday in conjunction with the streaming debut of the deluxe edition of her Evermore album. The “Right” video consists of a static, shadowy image of a table surrounded by three chairs, enticing Swifties to focus on the song’s heart-breaking tale of a love frozen in time. “Right where you left me/ You left me no, you left me no/ You left me no choice but to stay here forever/ You left me, you left me no, left me no/ You left me no choice but to stay here forever,” she sings on the acoustic reverie.
Before their streaming debut at midnight on Thursday (Jan. 7), both songs were previously only available on the CD and vinyl versions of the singer’s second 2020 surprise album.
“It’s Time to Go” is a similarly bleak assessment of being strong in the face of love’s loss, with Swift singing on the chorus, “Sometimes giving up is the strong thing/ Sometimes to run is the brave thing/ Sometimes walking out is the one thing/ That will find you the right thing.” The song’s lyric video is similarly stark, consisting of the words slowly scrolling upwards over a white plaster wall scarred by cracks.
