Between presents and pretty decorations, it’s easy to love Christmas. But the thing We The Kings’ Travis Clark loves about Christmas is the time he gets to spend with loved ones.
“Being in a band that tours around the world throughout the year is incredible, but it does make seeing our families a little more difficult,” the frontman says. “That’s why Christmas is my favorite holiday, typically the music industry puts a hold on things so we all get to go home and spend some much needed quality time with our families that we’ve missed while being on the road.”
Another reason to love the holidays is the festive music, and We The Kings delivered their own batch of Christmas tunes this year with the island-inspired Seasons Greetings From the Sandbar. The 10-track album includes renditions of Christmas classics, like “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting),” “White Christmas” and “Little Drummer Boy,” as well as a couple originals like the uplifting “One People.”
In celebration of WTK’s own Xmas album and Clark’s favorite time of year, the singer put together a playlist of some timeless Christmas jams for Takeover Tuesday. Along with old-time holiday hits by Johnny Cash and John Lennon, Clark also shouted out some re-imagined renditions by fellow pop-rock groups like Jimmy Eat World, Bright Eyes and Coldplay, as well as more traditional voices like Pentatonix and Sam Smith.
