With summer quickly approaching, MAX is beginning a sunny new phase in his career: The yellow era. He kicked it off with a bouncy banger titled “Love Me Less,” a collaboration with fellow singer-songwriter Quinn XCII, which the pair released on April 5.
MAX’s bright aesthetic is reflected in the single art for “Love Me Less” as well as the yellow and blue-splashed video that the guys dropped on April 26. And now, MAX is also painting his Takeover Tuesday playlist yellow — literally.
“I called it the ‘Yellow’ playlist since our new era is yellow, and I want to bring an electrifying new energy with all of the new music,” MAX says in a statement. “All of the most classic yellow songs and artists on this playlist.”
All 10 tracks in MAX’s playlist have some sort of tie to the color, whether it’s in the song title, like The Beatles’ singsongy tune “Yellow Submarine,” or in the album name, like Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road belter “Bennie And The Jets.” The set proves that yellow is a favorite across all genres, as it also includes electronic (Pretty Lights’ “Yellow Bird”), pop-punk (Yellowcard’s “Ocean Avenue”) and hip-hop (Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow”). But while they all may sound different, the songs on MAX’s “Yellow” playlist all bring the good vibes just in time for warm weather.
