Alt-pop trio lovelytheband have had a record-breaking streak with their breakout hit “broken,” holding steady on the Alternative Songs chart for 76 weeks and counting after a nine-week run at No. 1 in spring 2018. Thanks to the song’s success, the group won best new rock/alternative artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March and earned Billboard Music Award nominations for top rock artist and top rock song.

But as lovelytheband continues playing “broken” and their other infectious alt-rock tunes on the finding it hard to smile tour, the group serve up quite the revelation with their Takeover Tuesday playlist: These rockers love country music.

The lovelytheband guys highlighted 15 songs that perfectly describe their love for the genre, which they call “our favorite honest, warm, blue jean lovin’ songs.” The playlist features some of country’s biggest names as well as newer faces, whether it’s Luke Bryan’s “Huntin’ Fishin’ Lovin’ Everyday” or Mason Ramsey’s “Famous,” also spanning generations by including oldies like Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” and “Space Cowboy” from country’s current it girl Kacey Musgraves.

There’s plenty of classics in the guys’ playlist as well — Darius Rucker’s version of “Wagon Wheel,” Zac Brown Band’s debut smash “Chicken Fried,” Garth Brooks’ party starter “Friends In Low Places” — guaranteeing a good time even if you don’t own a pair of cowboy boots. Who knows, it could be a matter of time before lovelytheband has a country hit themselves.
