His album of the same name is due Dec. 4.
I wonder what it’s like for Shawn Mendes to have his explosive new song out in the world? The Canadian pop singer/songwriter unleashed the power ballad “Wonder” first thing Friday (Oct. 2), accompanied by an equally powerful Matty Peacock-directed video that sees Mendes standing atop a speeding train, interpretive-dancing in a forest and drenched by crashing waves.
The brand-new song — which Mendes co-wrote and co-produced — is the title track from his upcoming fourth album, due Dec. 4. The chorus asks the yearning question “I wonder what it’s like to be loved by you?” and boasts a swooning, building production reminiscent of Kings of Leon or U2. When Mendes fans are able to pack shoulder-to-shoulder in arenas again, this will be their new anthem.
