Sharon Osbourne shared a message online after the death of her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at 76 on Tuesday, July 22.
Her reply came under a tribute from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, one of many shared online after Ozzy’s death. Rossdale’s message appears to be the first one Sharon responded to.
On Instagram, Rossdale recalled meeting Ozzy “just a few times, but he was so warm and kind and funny, and I love that memory.” He added, “Sending much love to his family at this difficult time,” alongside a photo of the two. “Rest in power.”
Sharon replied with a brief message: “Bless you.”
Her comment followed a family statement released on the same day: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the message read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Ozzy is survived by Sharon, their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, as well as his former wife Thelma Riley and their children Jessica, Lewis, and Eliot. Several family members attended his final performance with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward during Black Sabbath’s farewell concert in Birmingham, England, three weeks prior to his passing.
Sharon and Ozzy met through her father, Don Arden, who managed Black Sabbath. The couple married in 1982 and became known through The Osbournes, a pioneering reality TV show centered around their family.
Despite challenges in their relationship—including Ozzy’s battles with alcohol, infidelity, and health problems—they remained together for over forty years, briefly separating in 2016. On their 40th anniversary in 2022, Sharon posted: “We first met when I was 18, over 52 years we have been friends, lovers, husband & wife, grandparents and soulmates. Always at each other’s side. I love you Ozzy.”
