And the journey begins: Shakira launched her much-anticipated “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” in Brazil on Tuesday evening. This marks the start of over 30 shows that will take the Colombian artist across Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and North America.
Before performing at Rio De Janeiro’s Estádio Nilton Santos, Shakira shared a heartfelt message on her social media. She mentioned that she had been preparing for the tour for a year, dedicating 14 hours a day to rehearsals to perfect her performance.
“Today is the day. At this moment I write these lines from my dressing room. The reflection in the mirror gives me the image of a woman who has left every last breath in each rehearsal, in each chord, in each step,” she wrote in Spanish. “I know that perfection does not exist, but I do know that tonight I will give myself to you as I am, with my voice sharpened by experience and my skin marked by each one.”
The “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” produced by Live Nation, is in support of her Grammy-winning album of the same name. This tour, like the album, is Shakira’s first since her “El Dorado” world tour in 2017-2018.
Shakira first announced tour dates for her American fans during her surprise Coachella performance with Bizarrap. The dates were later postponed, rescheduled, and moved to larger venues due to high demand.
Her North American tour will begin on May 13 in Charlotte, followed by stops in Toronto, Boston, Miami, and Las Vegas. She will also headline WorldPride DC in Washington, D.C., on May 26, and will wrap up the North American leg in San Francisco on June 30.
