Serena Williams represented her hometown during the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show. Headliner Kendrick Lamar had several surprise guests join him on stage as he performed tracks like “Not Like Us,” his popular and record-breaking diss track aimed at Drake. Among these surprise appearances were R&B star SZA, DJ Mustard, actor Samuel L. Jackson, who served as the ringmaster, and the tennis champion — who had previously been rumored to have had a romantic connection with Drake.
During her brief appearance, Williams stepped onto the stage to perform the crip walk. Known as the C-Walk, this dance originated in the 1970s by first-generation Crip member Robert “Sugar Bear” Jackson, and it has since gained worldwide popularity. Lamar also hails from Compton.
Earlier this week, Williams teased her involvement in the Super Bowl show when chatting with fans from New Orleans. “I think I could definitely not play football,” she said in a video shared on social media before the game. The former world No. 1 suggested she could run the entire field in under a minute. “When is the next time I’m going to be able to run on a field?” she asked the camera, before joking, “Well, I can do [that at the Miami] Dolphins.”

Fans were shocked, but in a positive way. “SERENA WILLIAMS C WALKIN ON STAGE AS KENDRICK LAMAR PERFORMED NOT LIKE US AT THE SUPER BOWL,” one fan wrote. “Serena williams crip walking .. nah Kendrick is a menace,” another commented.
This isn’t the first time Williams showed off her dancing skills. She previously twerked in Beyoncé’s music video for “Sorry,” from the visual album Lemonade.
Williams also took to social media to defend Taylor Swift. The Grammy-winning artist is dating Travis Kelce, and fans booed her when she was shown on screen.
“I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo!!” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Swift appeared to laugh off the boos.
