Selena Gomez, originally from Texas, shared her response to the devastating floods in her home state via Instagram on Friday (July 11). In her Story, she expressed sympathy for those affected by the storms that struck Texas in early July. CNN reported over 100 deaths, including 27 young girls and counselors from Camp Mystic near the Guadalupe River.

“So many are hurting and have lost everything, including loved ones, in my home state of Texas,” Gomez wrote. “My heart breaks for those who have lost someone and anyone still missing. The people of Texas will need our help as they rebuild from this unfathomable disaster.”

She also encouraged donations to aid the recovery. “I’ll be donating to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund,” she wrote. “If you are able, please consider doing the same. And, as the community mourns, please know mental health support is available.”

Gomez, who grew up in Grand Prairie before relocating to Los Angeles as a teenager, joins other artists with Texas ties—Miranda Lambert, Hilary Duff, and Maren Morris—who have posted messages of support. Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, and Shakira also extended condolences.

Recently, Gomez completed filming season five of Only Murders in the Building, where she stars alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin. She shared a video in June showing an emotional moment as filming wrapped.

Earlier this year, she released the album I Said I Love You First with her fiancé Benny Blanco. The project peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
