At this point last year, JoJo was just days away from unveiling re-recorded versions of her first two albums on Dec. 20, 2018, her 28th birthday. The releases marked an important chapter-closing moment for her, as she spent the first half of this decade in a legal battle with her former label, Blackground Records.

Now happily releasing music on her own label, Clover Music (a joint venture with Warner Records), JoJo has put out two singles in 2019, most recently unveiling the soulful breakup tune “Sabotage” featuring rising hip-hop artist Chika. It’s only the beginning of more to come from the “Say Love” singer, who plans to release an album next year. And with 2020 just around the corner, JoJo is gearing up for a new year — and a new decade — with a playlist fit for a fresh start.

JoJo created a Takeover Tuesday playlist titled “New Year, New You,” with 14 tracks that are sure to get anyone in the right mindset to confidently take on 2020. The playlist features several fiery tunes that arrived this year, including Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” (from his freshly No. 1 album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial) and The Weeknd’s “Heartless.”

There’s also, appropriately, plenty of tracks from badass females on JoJo’s playlist, including Lizzo’s “Juice,” Kesha’s Big Freedia collaboration “Raising Hell” and Cardi B’s “Money.” She included “Sabotage” too, sending an important message to fans for the new year: “Leave any habits or thoughts that don’t serve you behind!”
