“You’re gonna know my name!,” Camila Cabello’s Cinderella sings in the very first teaser for the upcoming Amazon Prime movie musical.
In the first look at Cinderella, we see Cabello’s title character — aka “Ella,” as evidenced by the name of her dream dressmaking business — go from the basement to the ball. “Life outside this basement starts right now,” Cinderella says over scenes around her village, in her workroom and at that fated party.
We also meet Billy Porter’s Fairy Godmother, who wears a bedazzled, high-collared gown with a clavicle-covering brooch and asks Cinderella, “Do you want to go to that ball?” Her answer shows that we’re in for a self-aware ride: “Yes, I was just crying and singing about it like two minutes ago!”
Cabello shared the teaser via Twitter on Wednesday (June 30), writing, “This was one of the most magical experiences of my life. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
Cinderella, written and directed by Pitch Perfect screenwriter Kay Cannon, will arrive Sept. 3 on Amazon Prime.
