You can’t argue with brilliance. That’s the message manager Scooter Braun sent on Friday morning (Aug. 23) just hours after Taylor Swift dropped her eagerly anticipated seventh album, Lover. In a praise-filled tweet, Braun appeared ready to offer an olive branch to Swift, who has been very vocal about her displeasure over the Justin Bieber/Ariana Grande manager’s recent $300 million purchase of her former label, Big Machine Machine Group, which included the rights to her first six albums.

“Regardless of what has been said the truth is you don’t make big bets unless you are a believer and always have been,” Braun wrote, adding, “Brilliant album with #Lover. Congrats @taylorswift13.”

As you likely recall, Swift was upset by the deal, which she referenced in a widely circulated Tumblr post, in which she enumerated the many times she felt bullied by Braun and his clients, calling the deal her “worst case scenario.” The tweet from Braun came just hours after Swift confirmed on Good Morning America that she intends to start re-recording her first five Big Machine albums next November.

“Yeah, that’s true and it’s something that I’m very excited about doing because my contract says that starting Nov. 2020, so next year, I can record albums 1-5 all over again,” Swift told Robin Roberts. “I’m very excited about it. Because I think that artists deserve to own their work. I feel very passionate about that… it’s next year. It’s right around the corner. I’m gonna be busy. I’m really excited.”

Braun ended his tweet with a note that appeared aimed at moving on. “Supporting was always the healthier option,” he wrote,” reiterating his praise with the hashtags “#brilliantalbum #brilliantcampaign congrats.” At press time it did not appear that Swift had reacted to Braun’s tweet.
