Though Justin Bieber appears to have mellowed out in recent years, there was a time when his manager, Scooter Braun, feared for the singer’s life on a daily basis.
Appearing on Van Lathan’s The Red Pill Podcast, Braun opened up about his past concerns for the now 24-year-old pop superstar. “There was a time when I would go to sleep almost every night — when he had the money to fly away from me — and I was worried every night that I was going to lose him,” he said.
“I thought he was going to die. I thought he was going to sleep one night and that he would have so much crap in his system that he would not wake up the next morning,” the 37-year-old manager continued
Bieber went through a string of incidents around 2014, beginning with being charged for a DUI, resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired license while drag racing a Lamborghini in Miami. He also allegedly assaulted a limousine driver and was charged with misdemeanor vandalism for throwing eggs at a neighbor’s house in the following months of the same year.
In the wake of the Sept. 7 death of Mac Miller — who reportedly died of an overdose — several figures in the industry have been speaking out about drug and alcohol habits. Bow Wow opened up earlier this week on Twitter about his lean addiction, and J. Cole tweeted to let those that are struggling know to reach out if they are in need.
