Five years after Sam Smith released his breakthrough single “Stay With Me,” the singer celebrated the track reaching a huge milestone. “Seems like yesterday that me, @jimmynapes & @Tourist wrote ‘Stay With Me,'” he wrote on Tuesday morning (Sept. 10). “I remember playing it to friends & family. Feeling so proud and excited. Incredibly surreal & mad feeling knowing that our little kid’s been streamed over 1 BILLION FUCKING TIMES. Wild wild wild. Wild life.”

Smith got some props from friends and fans, including producer Tourist, as well as OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Gashi, Savan Kotecha and Daisy Lowe. “Stay With Me” appeared on Smith’s 2014 debut album, In the Lonely Hour, and won two Grammys, for record and song of the year. The singer will appear next on the soundtrack to the upcoming Judy Garland biopic Judy, where he will sing a duet with star Renée Zellweger on “Get Happy.”

Meanwhile, the video for “Stay With Me” is on the verge of reaching the one billion mark on YouTube, hanging out at 999,469,064 at press time. Check it out below.
