Sabrina Carpenter has announced her new single, “Manchild,” arriving on June 5, through a post on her social media Tuesday morning. As she did with “Espresso” during Coachella, she’s expected to perform this new track live for the first time at Primavera Sound in Barcelona on June 6.
She shared the single’s artwork—taken from a teaser posted the day before—captioned, “This one’s about you!!” In the same post, she included a link for fans to purchase a special 7-inch vinyl. The listing reveals that “Manchild” was produced by Jack Antonoff, and that the B-side is titled “inside of your head when you’ve just won an argument with a man.”
Carpenter began teasing the release on Monday with a short video and billboards that highlighted possible lyrics, including “Hey men!,” “Amen,” and “I swear they choose me, I’m not choosing them.”
In the teaser, which lasts 16 seconds, Carpenter stands beside a dirt road in short denim cut-offs with a suitcase. She raises her thumb to hitchhike, but both a truck and a car pass her by without stopping.
This single marks her first new material since Short n’ Sweet, which debuted at number one last September and was later reissued in a deluxe edition with additional tracks including “Please Please Please (feat. Dolly Parton),” “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Busy Woman,” and “Bad Reviews.”
