In a recent interview with Ziwe published on June 12, Reneé Rapp was asked whether she would consider playing Elsa in a live-action version of Disney’s Frozen. Her response was direct: “No,” she said. “I don’t like the braid and the blue dress.” She also remarked, “Also, she’s kind of annoying to me,” and laughed before adding, “It’s OK, girl, just relax.”
Frozen, originally released in 2013, featured Idina Menzel as the voice of Elsa and included the chart-topping song “Let It Go,” which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The animated movie was later turned into a Broadway musical in 2017.
Rapp rose to fame in 2024 by playing Regina George in the film adaptation of Mean Girls, a role she had previously portrayed on Broadway after the stage version of the 2004 comedy premiered in 2018. Alongside her performance, she recorded a song for the film titled “Not My Fault,” collaborating with Megan Thee Stallion. Rapp has publicly supported the rapper, particularly regarding Megan’s case involving Tory Lanez. “I love Megan Thee Stallion,” Rapp said in an interview with Extra. “I love her. If anybody tries her when it comes to that sorry a– man, it’s a do or die fight for me.”
When Ziwe brought up reports that Lanez had been stabbed in prison, Rapp replied: “I feel like a lot of people get stabbed, and that’s OK,” and continued, “Maybe we should be doing it more. Maybe we should be stabbing more.”
The interview took place as Rapp prepares for the August 1 release of her new album Bite Me. She previously dropped the lead single “Leave Me Alone” in May and performed it at the 2025 American Music Awards. Her last album, Snow Angel, came out in 2023 and reached No. 44 on the Billboard 200.
