P!nk celebrated her return to New York City’s Madison Square Garden with a little help from one of her famous friends, Chris Stapleton.
On the first night of the singer’s two Beautiful Trauma Tour shows Tuesday (May 21), P!nk surprised the MSG crowd with the country star to live debut “Love Me Anyway,” their affecting piano ballad from P!nk’s new album Hurts 2B Human.
After P!nk started out by singing the song on her own, Stapleton slowly made his way to the stage to excited cheers. The pair delivered stunning harmonies as they were backed by a haunting piano and string section, making the performance as moving as the song’s emotional lyrics.
P!nk was clearly as excited to have Stapleton join her on stage as her surprised fans, as she followed their duet by bowing down to him and then jokingly collapsing before saying, “What just happened?” The singer posted a picture with Stapleton on Instagram almost immediately after her show as well, captioning the pic, “One of my absolute favorite songwriters, favorite voice, and person. Chris Stapleton. What an absolute honor to share a stage with you my friend.”
Hurts 2B Human debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following its April 26 release (chart dated May 11), marking the “What About Us” singer’s third consecutive leader on the chart. The set’s lead single, “Walk Me Home,” is currently No. 2 on the Adult Pop Songs chart (dated May 25).
