Pentatonix stopped to chat with Billboard at the Power 100 event on Thursday (Feb. 7), where they discussed their upcoming world tour, why social media has been so important for their career, and why they love Ariana Grande.

Asked how their upcoming world tour will be different from their previous live show treks and what they are most excited for with this one, Kevin Olusola replies that this one will be “very very fun” and that they have a lot more music coming out, so fans can expect to hear new music at the concerts.

Kirstin Maldonado adds that she is eager to perform at venues that she has dreamed of playing at since she was a child. “We’re playing Madison Square Garden,” she says. “We’re playing The Forum here on my birthday! So it’s just really exciting.”

The group are also posed with the question of what their biggest power move has been in their career. Scott Hoying notes that it has probably been using social media to connect directly with their fans, while Olusola adds that social media – and YouTube, especially – even helped land them a record deal with RCA. Hoving also chimes in with a laugh that making Christmas music has been another huge power move.

When asked what their favorite album of 2018 has been, Hoying replies that he probably listened to Ariana Grande’s Sweetener the most, to which the rest of his bandmates agree in unison. “We’re Ariana stans,” he adds.

On the subject of Grande, they are asked what they think of her decision to stand up for herself and not perform at the Grammys, to which Mitch Grassi replies, “I love a strong woman!”
