Normani’s mother is battling breast cancer again, and the singer has two words of support: “f–k cancer.” That’s what ‘Mani tweeted on Sunday (Oct. 11), just hours after her mother revealed the news. Andrea Hamilton, who survived breast cancer nearly 20 years ago, wrote on her Instagram account that the cancer had returned, and that she was determined to beat it again.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” she wrote. “I did it once and I’ll do it again! #CancerWho.” Normani (born Normani Kordei Hamilton) also shared her mom’s post to her own Instagram Stories, writing, “we got this mommy.”

In 2018, Normani told People magazine that she remembers the first time her mom battled the disease, which affects 1 in 8 women in the U.S.

“My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was around 5 years old, and it was the scariest point in all of our lives,” said Normani back then.

“I didn’t know much about breast cancer, and though I was always educated by my doctors to do my self-breast exams and everything, I took it for granted,” Hamilton added in the joint interview. “You can kind of turn a blind eye until it actually happens to you.”
