Koury Angelo – NGHTMRE

Who among you bassheads can say you’ve yearned for the crunching, face-metling crash from the cradle to the “Grave?” True bass love never dies, and though NGHTMRE can serve it hard and soft, bossy and vulnerable, he proves his undying love for industrial noise on his latest collaboration with fellow genre-hoppers WAVEDASH.

“I swear everything these guys put their hands on turns to festival gold,” NGHTMRE wrote in an emailed statement. “I always play at least two or three WAVEDASH songs in every set of mine, so it was amazing to be able to get in the studio and work on something. They’re all incredibly talented and extremely nice guys which made working together that much easier. Really happy with how this one turned out.”

“Grave” is cinematic and thoughtful, but more than anything, it’s absolutely disgusting. This is straight bass snarl. If you don’t scrunch your face, you’re just not listening.

“During the making of ‘Grave,’ we always envisioned a sci-fi future, where a high-intensity style of bike racing was the dominate sport in the world, kind of like how soccer is today,” WAVEDASH wrote in an emailed statement. “To us, ‘Grave’ really gave a visualization of what’s going on in the race itself; the crazy atmosphere, the bikes working, shifting gears and changing through the race. We came to NGHTMRE with the idea, and he was so stoked on it. We flew to meet him in Vegas to get the track firmly started, and then we finished it in L.A. with him a few months later. We had a blast throughout the entire process. Much love to Tyler and his team for working with us and making it happen.”

“Grave” comes on the heels of WAVEDASH’s monster-stomping Devil Music EP, a collaborating project with fellow bass boomer Quest. It’s also NGHTMRE’s first original release since the Magic Hour EP with rapper Pell. It’s out now on Mad Decent.
