Robert Knight Archive/Redferns – Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee of Motley Crue
Despite an unfriendly split in 2015, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx appear to have reconciled differences and joined forces in the studio. In a post to the band’s Facebook account on Wednesday (Aug. 29), Lee and Sixx were pictured in the studio with famed rock producer Bob Rock.
The two were seen surrounded by instruments and recording equipment, which naturally sparked fan rumors of a joint project, which would be the first music from the pair since the long-running hard rock band wrapped up their 34-year run. Lee also posted a short video of himself playing a booming drum pattern in the studio on his personal Instagram account.
Though the footage looks promising, Sixx previously denied the possibility of a future album release back in 2016. “No chance of another record,” he told Classic Rock. “I want to just leave it intact. I see no reason. We couldn’t be creative as a band, so how the hell can we continue? But I’m glad the way it finished — we did it all, we did what we said we were going to do, and now I’m excited about the future.”
Mötley Crüe is in the midst of working on their Netflix-produced biopic, The Dirt, which is currently in its post-production phase. A spokesperson for the band could not be reached for comment at press time.
