Miley Cyrus is bringing her next artistic vision to the big screen. On May 15, she announced that her upcoming visual album, Something Beautiful, will be accompanied by a film shown in theaters for one night only. A new trailer was also released, featuring her boyfriend, drummer Maxx Morando.
The preview, shared on Instagram, shows Cyrus in a series of avant-garde outfits — including the crystal headpiece seen on the Something Beautiful cover — while performing her latest single, “More to Lose,” which dropped on May 9. Scenes include her riding a motorcycle, lying on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and staring into the camera with teary eyes. At one moment, she and Morando — her partner of about four years — embrace in the rain and share a kiss.
“If I break away any bodies between us, would you promise that I’m enough?” Cyrus says in a voice-over.
“SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL IN CINEMAS ONE NIGHT ONLY,” the pop star shared in the caption. “US & CANADA JUNE 12 / INTERNATIONAL JUNE 27.”
Tickets will go on sale May 22 through her official website. The theatrical screening on June 12 will follow the film’s premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on June 6, just after the album’s official release on May 30.
“Something Beautiful is my dream project come true — fashion, film and original music coexisting in harmony,” the “Flowers” singer said. “Each collaborator has used their expertise to make this fantasy a reality.”
Cyrus has been preparing fans for the album for weeks, having released the singles “Prelude” and the title track “Something Beautiful” on March 31. Even before officially announcing the project, she had hinted at wanting to create a visual album inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall.
