We live in an age of autotuned popstars and computer-generated melodies, and yet, nothing is as moving as true grit and passion laid bare on stage. Miley Cyrus has been many things in her life, but above all else, she’s one helluva singer. Her performance on Mark Ronson’s “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” is haunting and beautiful, and the pair took to the stage on The Ellen Show today (Jan. 28) to prove it doesn’t need any fancy equipment to burn down the house.
Host Ellen DeGeneres booked the duet for her birthday, but it’s a gift to us all. Cyrus slays on the mic, while Ronson stands back looking all blue-jean daydream with his acoustic guitar. The best part is how Cyrus sings both the main and backup parts.
“Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” peaked at No. 43 on the Hot 100 earlier this month.
Stay tuned for the adorable and inspiring love fest between Ellen, Cyrus and Ronson at the end of the clip below.
