Meghan Trainor took to social media on Wednesday (Nov. 6) to confirm that her long-gestating third album, Treat Myself, will officially be released early next year.
“I got to announce the OFFICIAL release date of my album Treat Myself exclusively on @theellenshow today!!!” the pop star shared on Instagram along with the album’s Jan. 31 release date. “We’ve worked so hard to bring this album to life and I cannot wait to finally share it with the world…for realz this time.”
First announced back in 2018, Trainor’s embattled third studio set has weathered a litany of delays and shifting release dates. Originally slated to drop in the summer of 2018, Treat Myself was preceded by lead single “No Excuses” as well as promo tracks “Let You Be Right,” “Can’t Dance,” “All The Ways” and the title track before being pushed to 2019.
As delays mounted, Trainor changed tactics to tide over fans, releasing 6-track EP The Love Train (which included the previously released “All the Ways”) last February.
In September, she unveiled the Mike Sabath-assisted “Wave” as Treat Yourself’s official second single, seemingly scrapping the songs that preceded it — besides “No Excuses” — from the LP’s track list. (As for new music, Sasha Sloan and Lennon Stella collab “Workin’ On It” is confirmed for the album, but it’s unclear whether recent spell-it-out dance-pop jam “Genetics” will make the final cut.)
