In the latest episode of The Martin Garrix Show, the Dutch DJ and producer takes us to Toronto to go behind the scenes of his music video “Ocean,” featuring Khalid.
Garrix says the staging and production took about 40 people across five different rooms. The warehouse they used had no electricity running through it, no water or anything. The crew had to come through and wire the place to set the minimal mood with stage lighting and LEDs, plus building the set with glass and mirrors. When things get a little too heated, the team gets crafty, and yes, there is a Khalid cameo.
“I think someone tweeted about the idea of us collabing and I was like ‘hell yeah,'” Khalid says. “We went back and forth like ‘this has to become a reality.'”
It turns out they made the whole song over FaceTime and only met in person for the first time that day; both were very excited about the song.
