Marshmello is no newcomer to hip-hop crossovers. He’s worked with Logic, Juicy J, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Migos, but his latest single “Project Dreams” featuring Roddy Ricch might be his most hip-hop-heavy match-up yet. There’s something so funky about Ricch’s sing-song flow. He brings the melody to Marshmello’s snare-forward, drum-machine beat.
The single is an instant earworm, and it’s paired with a straightforward video that sees Ricch performing his verses in neighborhood streets and standing proud on a rooftop. His masked partner joins him on the stoop, silently head bobbing along.
It’s a cool crown atop Marshmello’s outstanding 2018, and we definitely hope to hear more of Ricch’s voice in the year to come. “Project Dreams” is out now on Marshmello’s Joytime Collective. Watch the music video below.
