Maroon 5 unveiled a new remix of their latest single “Nobody’s Love” on Friday (Oct. 16) with a guest assist from Jamaican star Popcaan.
On the romantic mid-tempo ballad, frontman Adam Levine croons over pulsating production, while the Jamaican singer name-drops Jay-Z and Beyoncé in comparing a new love to the famous power couple’s relationship.
“You’re the only hand in my back pocket/ If you ever left, I’d go psychotic/ Heaven, hear me cryin’, cryin’/ Baby, you’re the key to my heart, lock it/ If you ever left, never unlock it/ Lonеly like an island, island,” Levine sings on his opening verse before tossing the mic to Popcaan post-chorus for his guest appearance.
The original version of “Nobody’s Love” has so far charted at No. 41 on the Hot 100 after being released earlier this summer, and marks the pop act’s first single since the departure of original bassist Mickey Madden. The track follows the success of the band’s 2019 hit “Memories,” which peaked at No. 2 last September. Both songs are expected to be featured on the band’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled seventh studio album — itself a follow-up to 2017’s Red Pill Blues.
Meanwhile, Popcaan’s fourth studio album, Fixtape, dropped in August featuring collaborations with Drake (“All I Need” and “Twist & Turn,” also featuring Partynextdoor), French Montana (“Murda” with Preme) and more. The dancehall star also recently collaborated with rising British hip-hop star Loski on bouncing superhero-themed single “Avengers.”
