Mariah Carey is set to showcase her title as the “Queen of Christmas” by kicking off Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25.
The superstar will perform a pre-recorded version of her iconic holiday anthem “All I Want for Christmas Is You” before the two football games scheduled for the day, marking a significant step for Netflix into the sports world.
On Christmas Day, the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, will compete against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET, followed by a game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET. Carey isn’t the only musical icon joining Netflix’s Christmas stream — Beyoncé will perform a live halftime show during the Ravens-Texans game. With Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, playing for the Chiefs, there’s a chance she might make an appearance too.
Carey has just completed her biggest Christmas tour yet and is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her legendary holiday album Merry Christmas, which features “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The song has now been certified 16-times platinum by the RIAA, making it the highest-certified single by a female artist.
In addition to streaming on Netflix, the Christmas Day games will be broadcast on local TV stations in the team cities (CBS affiliates in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Houston) and available on NFL+ for mobile viewers in the U.S.
NFL Christmas Gameday on Netflix is part of a three-year agreement between the platform and the league, which will also see Netflix air at least one holiday game in 2025 and 2026. When the deal was first announced, the Wall Street Journal reported that it cost Netflix approximately $150 million in total.
