Mariah Carey stopped by the SiriusXM studios this week to speak about her new album Caution, and her extravagant Christmas decorating plans.
Carey spoke with SiriusXM host Cayman Kelly about finally getting to work with Slick Rick on Caution, calling their collaboration “a dream come true.” Carey revealed she worked with Slick Rick and Blood Orange on the album’s track “Giving Me Life.” “It’s just one of my favorite records on the album,” Carey told Kelly. “It’s not trying to be a big single. Its got its own vibe.” After hearing the song’s nostalgic lyrics, Carey spoke to JAY-Z about possible collaborations, and he suggested she team up with Blood Orange. “All of the stars aligned and it ended up that Slick Rick was able to do it [too],” Carey said of working with both artists on the track.
With the holiday season just around the corner, the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer also revealed that she pulls out all the stops when it comes to Christmas celebrations. “People think I’m making this up, but this is actually true. I have real reindeer come to my house,” Carey confessed. “I don’t play around.”
Carey’s full interview will air on SiriusXM’s Heart & Soul channel on Friday (Nov. 16) at 5 p.m. ET.
