During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on July 24, Mariah Carey spoke with guest host Fortune Feimster about signing Rihanna’s chest at one of her Christmas concerts in Brooklyn last year. The incident, which gained wide attention online in December, featured Carey writing her name with a red marker on Rihanna’s left breast, as Rihanna exclaimed, “Wow, this is iconic … Mariah Carey is signing my tit, y’all!”
When Feimster inquired if this was a usual request from fans, Carey responded, “Not really.”
She added, “Sometimes on someone’s arm or something,” but noted that Rihanna received different treatment. “That was a unique moment. We love Rihanna.”
Regarding Rihanna’s intention to make the autograph permanent, Carey expressed doubt, saying, “She said she was going to, but somehow, I don’t think that happened.”
Rihanna had been one of many in attendance at Carey’s 2024 holiday concert tour, which is part of the singer’s annual tradition to highlight her seasonal hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Carey is now preparing to release Here for It All, marking her first studio project in seven years.
She has already released two tracks from the upcoming album—“Type Dangerous” and “Sugar Sweet,” which features Kehlani and Shenseea. The full album is set to arrive on September 26. Asked about the long gap since her 2018 album Caution, Carey explained, “I was just getting it together,” and elaborated, “I would make, like, four songs, and then I’d be like, ‘We can start making an album now,’ and then I’d never do it. Then I got up to 10 songs and we were basically ready for an album.”
