‘Cries in 2008,’ Swift also wrote in response to all of the love for her new track.
If you’re loving Taylor Swift‘s new “From the Vault” song “You All Over Me,” you’re not the only one. The soothing acoustic country track that Swift wrote, but never recorded, back in 2008 during the sessions for her pop crossover smash Fearless dropped on Friday (March 26), and some of Taylor’s peers couldn’t wait to sing its praises.
“Whether you knew it then or wrote her off due to age, gender, or genre bias – it’s undeniable from here. @taylorswift13 is a master of the craft,” wrote Maggie Rogers in a caption on her IG Story.
Conan Gray also was kind of freaking out in an Story post in which he wrote “Don’t hit us up we’re streaming ‘You All Over Me’ along with a picture of himself and Olivia Rodrigo huddled under a blanket.
Rodrigo’s original post of the dramatic black and white pic put it best, with the caption, “Conan and Olivia listening to ‘You All Over Me’ but it’s a renaissance painting.” The pair had a blast going back-and-forth on their insta-meme, with Gray responding in comments, “‘Taylor Swift’s Children’ by Taylor Swift (uncolorized) 13th century b.c.” and then “Taylor really left us no choice but to die and become a Renaissance painting.”
Rodrigo couldn’t deal with Gray’s spontaneous “children’ caption, replying, “@conangray God damn it u have such better captions than I do.”
Morris didn’t hate it, either, tweeting, “Thank you @taylorswift13 for having me be a small part of your reimagining of the Fearless era. And to @aaron_dessner for producing the s–t out of it. #YouAllOverMe.”
Swift herself also took to Instagram to share her love for the love. “Cries in 2008,” she joked.
“You All Over Me” includes backing vocals from Maren Morris and was produced by Swift’s Folklore/Evermore collaborator The National‘s Aaron Dessner and co-written by Scooter Carusoe.
“You All Over Me (From the Vault)” will be included on the re-recorded version of Swift’s sophomore album and first Billboard 200 No. 1 Fearless, due April 9. The new song is just one of “6 never-before-released songs from the vault” on Fearless (Taylor’s Version).
