Lola Young is gearing up to release her third album, titled I’m Only F–king Myself, set to drop on September 19. This new project follows an eventful year and a half that has cemented the London-born artist’s status in the pop world. She created the album alongside her usual collaborators—Connor Dickinson, Will Brown, and Jared Solomon, also known as Solomonophonic. Announcing the record on Instagram, Young shared, “My ode to self sabotage, my chance to claw myself back from the edge of defeat.”
Earlier this week, the 24-year-old revealed that her next single, “Not Like That Anymore,” will be out this Friday, June 20. She’s been on a busy streak, including opening for Billie Eilish during the Paris leg of the Hit Me Hard and Soft tour and performing at the Capital FM Summertime Ball at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Back in May, Young dropped the lead single from the upcoming album, the vibrant track “One Thing.” It climbed to No. 19 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, becoming her second top 20 hit after the major success of her 2024 track “Messy.”
“Messy” experienced a steady climb before hitting No. 1 on the U.K. chart in January, eight months post-release. It held the top spot for four weeks and also peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track has amassed over 600 million streams on Spotify, contributing to her appearances at major festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury.
This year, Young won the rising star honor at the Ivor Novello Awards and was previously nominated for best pop act at the BRIT Awards. She’s set to perform at numerous festivals across the U.K. and Europe this summer, including Reading & Leeds in August.
Her 2024 release, This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway, followed her debut album, My Mind Wanders And Sometimes Leaves Completely, which dropped the year before.
