In the music crossover we never knew we needed, a video of Lizzo covering Adele’s “Someone Like You” has surfaced on the Internet.

Published Sep. 30, 2011 on the YouTube channel “lizzomusic” — which has just over 880 subscribers — the then-23-year-old Lizzo plays the piano and sings her way through Adele’s hit from the same year, ending with a meek “Thank you.”

“Hey! Bored & playing around with music again. Found the chords and decided to have some fun,” reads the video’s description.

Now that “Truth Hurts” is in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and Lizzo has achieved mainstream success, the video’s comment section praises the singer on her perserverance.

“I’m crying at all these old comments. She’s made it now, it’s great to see this literal time capsule where no ones commented in 5 years. I love you Lizzo!!” one supporter wrote.

Another viewer commented, “I relly [sic] think you should have ended it with ‘youre welcome.'”

Another great find on Lizzo’s old channel is her cover of Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s “Empire State Of Mind,” played entirely on the flute.
