Liam Payne confirmed the news of his engagement to model Maya Henry during an appearance on Good Morning America on Thursday (Sept. 3). When the GMA crew kicked off the interview with a congratulations on the engagement, Payne responded, “We’re just really happy!”
The One Directioner, who performed “Midnight” during his appearance, added: “The last week, I’ve just had a birthday, my son has gone to school for the first time today, so it seems like a lot of firsts for me, really, which is great.”
Payne — who turned 27 on Aug. 29 — shares 3-year-old Bear with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole. He and Henry made their romance public in September 2019.

The GMA hosts also asked him about One Direction’s 10-year anniversary and a possibility of a reunion, which Payne didn’t exactly shoot down.
“It feels amazing to be doing 10 years of anything, really, especially to have the success level that we’ve had,” he responded. I’m just really grateful the fans have stuck around, and we still each of us have a career, which I think has been the most amazing thing out of it, really.”
As for potentially getting the rest of the guys — Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan — he said, “As far as reunions go, I don’t know too much, but I got wonderful, lovely birthday messages from everyone, which was really really nice!”
To celebrate their 10-year anniversary, the group released a video looking back at some of their best moments.
