Taylor Swift’s poignant live debut of “Soon You’ll Get Better” on One World: Together at Home even moved Lady Gaga, who curated the all-star benefit concert lineup.
Gaga shared her reaction to Swift’s performance while watching the televised special along with fans on Instagram Live on Saturday (April 18).
“This is so beautiful, Taylor,” she said. “Thank you for sharing this vulnerable moment with us. You’re really, really even so much braver in this moment.”
Viewers were surprised by Swift’s song choice, as long before the coronavirus pandemic hit, she’d indicated she had no plans to perform the personal Lover ballad publicly. “I don’t know if I’ll ever play it live,” she said upon its release in August. “It’s just really difficult for me. It was hard to write. It’s hard to sing. It’s hard to listen to for me. But sometimes, music is like that. Sometimes it’s not just about stuff that was pleasant to feel.”
One World: Together at Home — which also featured appearances by the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Lizzo and more — helped raise $127.9 million for healthcare workers in their fight against COVID-19, according to Global Citizen.
