It’s hard enough to beat cancer, but just because you’re in remission doesn’t mean your life is a cakewalk. There’s a level of anxiety that comes with surviving the disease that never really goes away. You’ve got to watch your diet and your health habits. You’re always on alert. Those powerful people deserve a break, especially the young survivors that still have their whole lives ahead of them.
Youth Cancer Europe wants to give those strong survivors the memorable experiences they deserve, and so do some of the world’s biggest DJs. Kygo, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack and Danny Avila participated in a group meet-and-greet with five cancer survivors from around the continent at UNTOLD Festival in Romania last weekend. Each of the survivors, ages 18 to 26, were flown to the festival courtesy of YCE.
Afrojack met the group backstage on the first night, while van Buuren was happy to pose for pictures before his closing 7-hour set. Danny Avila wore his Fuck Cancer bracelet during his set, a gift from the survivors.
“Once again, we were lucky to secure the opportunity to invite youth cancer survivors from across the continent to meet some of their heroes at the incredible Untold Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Romania,” YCE founder and CEO Katie Rizvi is quoted in a press release. “Afrojack, Kygo, Danny Avila and Armin Van Buuren took the time to speak to each of our guests individually, take photos and sign autographs for them. These are memories that they will cherish forever, and we’re always over the moon to bring these experiences to them. A huge thank you goes out from us to the DJs, as well as to the team at Untold for all their help in making this happen.”
