Following Sean “Diddy” Combs’ acquittal on sex-trafficking charges, despite testimony from Cassie Ventura, singer Kesha expressed public support for Ventura, drawing from her own experiences with sexual assault litigation.

Shortly after the New York jury cleared the Bad Boy Records founder of sex-trafficking and racketeering on Wednesday (July 2) — convicting him only on two counts related to prostitution — Kesha posted a message to Ventura on X. “Cassie, I believe you,” she wrote. “I love you.”

She added, “Your strength is a beacon for every survivor.”

The verdict was reached after two days of jury deliberation, ending a seven-week trial where federal prosecutors sought to portray Diddy as the leader of a criminal operation focused on his sexual gratification. Ventura testified for several days in May, describing how he allegedly abused and trafficked her for his “freak off” gatherings.

Diddy has consistently denied the allegations. He is now awaiting sentencing, which could result in up to 20 years in prison due to the prostitution conviction.

Kesha has her own history of legal disputes involving sexual assault claims. In 2014, she accused producer Dr. Luke of drugging and raping her at a party in 2005 — accusations he firmly denied. Their legal battle lasted nearly a decade, finally ending in a 2023 settlement. Throughout that time, Kesha has spoken openly about how the ordeal affected her life and creativity.

She is now preparing to release her first independent album titled . on July 4, following the end of her contract with Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records. Speaking about the new project on The Jennifer Hudson Show in May, Kesha said, “It’s been all of my vision, all of my words, a lot of hard work, a lot of joy. Really coming back home to myself and feeling what freedom really looks like, feels like, sounds like.”

Meanwhile, Ventura recently gave birth to her third child with husband Alex Fine, just weeks after finishing her testimony in the trial.

In response to the verdict, Ventura’s legal team issued a statement: “By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice … This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.”
